Ukraine's sugar beet planting area increased to 281000 hectares in 2024, and EU sugar exports may be restricted

On March 19th, the official sowing area forecast released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture showed that the country's sugar beet planting area is expected to achieve significant growth in 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 31.9%, reaching 281000 hectares, despite possible restrictions on sugar exports to the European Union. Compared to last year, the sugar beet planting area in 2024 is expected to increase by 31.9%, from 213000 hectares to 281000 hectares. However, this does not mean that Ukraine's sugar exports will be smooth sailing, as sugar exports to the European Union may face certain restrictions in 2024.
